Today is my one year anniversary living with Alpha-guy and Beta-chic. It took me several months to get use to the weird noise and people of Salem. But now i am Queen of Squirrel-andia and the happiest dragon in Salem. I do hope the pet humans celebrate with some organic sausage and a few walks around Squirrel-andia today. Perhaps a bouquet of a dozen squirrels?
It’s my anniversary and i will chase if i want to … chase if i want to!

Quan Yin reports for Squirrel Duty at the Salem Commons also referred to as Squirrel-andia.
This week there have not been as many squirrels to chase as i had hoped. The windy weather has kept them hiding. And with all the rain, my pet human has been very lazy and has not taken me to Squirrel-andia the usual 3 times a day. It has been such a boring week. I think i deserve an extra organic chicken and apple sausage to make up for this.

It’s January 21 … and that means it’s Squirrel Appreciation Day ! And i do so appreciate a good squirrel. Nothing makes me happier than walking through the Salem Commons aka Squirrel-andia and chasing those pesky creatures who taunt me up a tree.

It is snowing again today so i am not sure if i will be able to celebrate this holiday as i had hoped. The squirrels are hiding and the snow is too deep to walk around Squirrel-andia with the pet humans. So i am forced to look at these tempting pictures of squirrels instead.

While on Squirrel Patrol this week i encountered some very interesting squirrels. Perhaps these furry creatures were left behind after the Halloween madness?

I am certain these poker playing varmits were part of that tacky Fiesta Shows Carnival selling fried dough in the Salem Commons. (I did hope to find some morsels of sausage on the ground before they left.)

If only the pet humans would let me off that cursed leash.

to Kali the Destroyer

So it is a heavy burden for a rescue dog like me to have the same name as the Chinese deity of compassion, Quan Yin. I like the name. It’s cool- tho most of the people in Salem just don’t get it or can even remember it. The problem is- i have to behave all the time. Too much pressure for me. I am only 1 1/2 years old. Come on folks… you could have named me something fun…. like
Kali the Destroyer. She is a one of the cooler Hindu deities. She is black like me. And everyone is scared of her. Nobody except a few cats and squirrels are scared of me. The best part is, Kali gets away with destruction.. unlike me. So unfair.

Is it my fault that i chewed up a Frida Kahlo library book the other day when i should have been taken on a walk? Why is it that i was blamed and not any of those cats? And i did my pet human Beta-chic a favor. She wanted that book- so now she can keep it. (Of course she must replace it with a brand new one that cost $56 in the next week or she will be banned from the library.)

So i think i should add Kali to my litany of names. Today i declare i am Quan Yin Kali Wu.

Now where is that stack of library books they hid? That yoga book looked pretty tasty.

You are so kind to compliment me! It is i who should ask you for beauty tips!

I think a healthy lifestyle is the key to beauty. My pet humans feed me good dog food, a brand that does not have wheat, corn, soy or by-products. Lately they have been cooking turkey, rice and veggies for me- as i have been such a delicate creature with the move, heat and the scary truck sounds of Salem.

I drink only filtered water- never tap! Several downward facing dog yoga poses each day help me to stay flexible and i insist on at least 3 to 4 walks per day. I recommend meditating on squirrels for at least a half hour each day. And my mantra is Om Take Me For A Walk Om…..

I cannot imagine either of you suffer from bad breath. My pet humans add parsley to my food and also give me the Dragon Teeth bones by Solid Gold. I did an entire blog post on those the other day so scroll down to read about them! I think they will be using the Leba dental spray soon on my pearly whites.

Let’s have lunch one day, a walk on the beach or a squirrel meditation. Perhaps we can have our pet humans contact one another. Would love to meet you both since you are so famous in Marblehead! (Of course my feline roomies are still talking about the day Sally came to visit… and they have never stopped playing with Ella’s red ribbon of peace!)
